„Intense aroma of dried fruit, candy, malt, honey and a bit of leather with dark-roasted spice and brandy flavors in the background. Highly concentrated, very sweet fruit, "fruit in rum" aromes, nice acidity, smoky spicy oak in the background, again honey, caramel and a bit malt, extreme length with oxidative notes. Still has time. Until 2060. (9.5 Alc., 900 bottles were produced). 97 points.“

„Amber-orange. Pine needle, half tangerine and apricot, breadier at first, some white chocolate, almost overwhelmingly huge and fat on attack, considerably more glyceric and very viscous, now starting to integrate its oxidation and oak, which used to compress the fruit two years ago, but beautifully sweet and fresh now for such a big mouthful, very long and complex on the finish, viscous but not without subtlety. When I bought this I had simply assumed it would surpass the already spectacular 1991 version, and indeed could see that this is even more concentrated and powerful... With prolonged airing (retasting the wines with Dani back home) sweet Cognac and Calvados with a raspberry top note and sweet pipe tobacco and nutmeg, glyceric, sweet and satisfying, with a grapey and sour apple aftertaste... dnczka

The Danczka hill stands apart from the hills that comprise the Zemplén mountain range. It is shaped like a breadloaf and has a long southern slope. Heavy clay soil allows the vines to easily obtain water and essential nutrients, helping the berries reach full maturity. Rolling fogs out of the Bodrog and Tisza rivers contribute to the over-ripening of the fruit stimulating botrytis development, adding necessary sweetness and roundness to the wines. The name Danczka refers to the owntime ownership by the Baltic port city of Danzig (Gdańsk, Poland). Although the town was largely German, and mostly consumed wines from German lands, its position as a port city resulted in a strong interest in Tokaji wine as a good to be shipped across the Baltic Sea to Russia and Sweden. Also the town of Eperjes (Prešov, Slovakia) had a vineyard here in 1672.
